We need to be less "pro-Palestine" and more "anti-Israel"
Israel is the root of the problem. "Anti-Israel" immediately strikes at the core with no room for backtracking.
But a lot of both sides stuff can get by under the "Pro-Palestine" label.
Zionism is not a red line for American 'leftists' because its victims are on the other side of the world.
Right wing domestic politics are a red line for American 'lefitsts' because it affects them.
That's why they can support Sanders but never a right-wing anti-Israel figure.
All of the recent hand-wringing over "zogslave" is explained by the same current as always: Jewish exceptionalism & Jewish supremacy.
Here's why it's extremely harmful:
In the early 2000s, during the 2nd Intifada, the Israeli "left" used to do those useless "anti-occupation"/"peace" mass-rallies in Tel Aviv, with boring speeches and awful music. At the end of the rallies, the crowd used to stand and sing the Israeli national anthem.
Me and my friends had a habit of coming to those demonstrations with our own anti-Zionist messages. And whenever the crowd started singing HaTikva, we would all sit on the floor and start chanting "Zionism is racism". For that, we've gotten beaten-up again and again by Israel's "most moral" bleeding hearts.
We got kicked, stomped and punched by pretty much every group across the "Zionist Left" spectrum - Labor and Meretz activists, people from the "Movement for Quality Government", "Zionist-Socialist" youth movement seniors, Peace Now fascists and even reservist "refusers" (they refused to serve - but only in the West Bank).
Nowadays, the entire "Israeli Left" is even more racist, genocidal and violent than it was 25 years ago.
Sometimes I imagine what a database of evil acts by Israel would look like. It is too big to imagine. It would be the size of the Internet. All the data centers couldn't hold it all.
FD signifier has said more things about Antisemitism than said anything about the ongoing genocide in gaza...let that sink in. Him and his ilk/other progressives remain fundamentally philosemitic in the sense that they still treat Jewish moral legitimacy and liberal institutional legitimacy as things that must ultimately be preserved, Palestinian are secondary subjects to this long psychodrama of restoring the moral self image of Jewish identity post October 7th.
to whomever made this: thank you from the wells of history and farthest echoes of indigenous screams for justice for this labor of love and justice.
their terror will not be whitewashed.
How does someone develop this level of moral clarity at the age of 15 despite being surrounded by such pervasive and insidious propaganda? B.M. is a truly special person.
On this Memorial Day, let’s remember how fucking awesome the Viet Cong were for humiliating the US army & creating an entire generation of PTSD ridden losers who now send their equally stupid sons and daughters to kill & die for the military industrial complex.
Correct. You believe Palestinians are oppressed but don't believe in their right to resist by any means necessary, then you are a bigot who supports that oppression.
Liberals think you can peace process this away. They think you can just coexist this away. That you can protest this away.
There are Palestinians who laid their lives on the line to stop this, they fought every single day to stop the theft of their land, the extermination of their people. Don’t let anyone ever convince you to condemn or forget those who used their last breaths to stop this.
If 9 Jewish paramedics were killed ANYWHERE in the world it would be called terrorism.
And we’d never hear the end of it.
Israel slaughtered 9 paramedics in 72 hours, most of which we’ve seen on film, and we only hear their names on Twitter.
NYTimes will dedicate ten dozen articles to the language of anti-apartheid college students and how it impacts Jewish feelings, but not one about what Israel's own ministers say.
May 25, 1991: Operation Carlota ended. That day, the last Cuban soldiers came home after 16 years in Southern Africa. They didn’t just defend Angola, they freed Namibia & broke apartheid’s back. One of the greatest acts of internationalism in history. The world still owes Cuba.
has there ever been a commander who rallies his soldiers with visions of smashing babies against rocks? have there ever been 'soldiers' who laugh and smile at the prospect? has there ever been a society that holds such explicit baby killing with pride?
this is the 'jewish state'
2019: Zelensky honored his grandfather, Semyon Zelensky, who fought against the Nazis in the ranks of the Red Army.
2026: Zelensky honors the OUN leader Andriy Melnyk, who collaborated with the Nazis and helped facilitate the creation of the Waffen-SS Galicia Division, which swore allegiance to Hitler and killed members of the anti-Nazi resistance movement in Slovakia and the former Yugoslavia.
It seems that Azov is now shaping Ukraine’s politics of memory.
