and the walls inside
paper thin

tender hands, claiming her
as His own

People think I’m all sunshine and hope. But the truth is, more and more I’m just barely hanging on. And some days I️ just want to give in...let the darkness wash over me...slowly...absorbing me until I️ just float.

Because some days, it’s hard to hold it back and just smile.

on days the sky is dark
and swollen with rain
forever carry a storm
in their souls

in his calloused hands
whispering gentle affirmations
of unconditional love
only the broken
can hear

and somewhere in time
her fragile heart skips a beat

the perfect imperfection
You crave
my neuroses run too deep
shackled in silence
to slack-jawed demons
no man can tame

i play them
over and over and over
again, nights with You
Your dark whispers, shivers
down my spine
plucking the string
between deep-seated longing
and lust-infused need
reverberating, rippling
from my core
until I’m a shaking, flushed
mess of a girl
even before, Your hands begin

it was the stillness of her tongue
that lead to the silencing
of the song in her heart
and ultimately, the denial
of who she is

devoid of light, feeling my way
