@ChrisRamsey60 Range, rather than squinting to see where the laser is landing you get a small screen with a bull’s-eye showing where it is. It’s a lot easier to look down at the screen and press the measurement button for something 180 feet away. It captures an image so you can review after.

Less about commodity pricing on the VE though. But reducing EWP designs needs, lower grade lumber. OSB low grade vs premium grade (or medium grade. Advantech subfloor was often 2x medium quality OSB). Reduce need for sistering up studs on bottom floors. Incorporating balconies into floor trusses. Much more!! All design related.
