EU Day highlights the European Union’s partnership and support to Afghanistan.
Thank you @EUinAfghanistan.
Support period: January 2024 – December 2025.
In hard-to-reach areas like Tebnine, in South Lebanon, damaged hospitals continue to function while cut off from the rest of the country.
Inside, hundreds of patients are being treated. Many are children.
UNICEF teams are on the ground, delivering life-saving medical supplies, safe water, hygiene kits, and baby kits to support overwhelmed health facilities and families living in isolation.
Humanitarian convoys are now critical to sustain people.
But this is not enough.
Hospitals must be protected.
Children must be protected.
Communities must be reached.
A ceasefire is urgently needed. Now.
Part two: Afghanistan’s private sector is resilient but under pressure, facing challenges like limited access to finance, infrastructure gaps, and regulatory uncertainty.

Since Sept 2023, more than 3 million Afghans have returned home, over three million this year alone. Many arrive with little more than a bag in hand. This is their journey of starting over: Learn more: https://t.co/McSaUdT01h
Rahila’s home was among the 50,000 homes destroyed in Herat province Afghanistan during the earthquake in 2023. As @unafghanistan@UNDPaf supports the rebuild, another big one has just struck the eastern region flattening entire villages in Kunar and Nangarhar provinces. This one too has already claimed hundreds of lives and homes.
Through @UNDP’s shelter support, funded by the #SpecialTrustFundforAfghanistan, safe homes can now be built faster, so earlier recovery is available for families who have lost everything.
Alarming gap: Afghan returnees surge as funding falls dangerously short. Without urgent investment, hard-won progress will collapse—risking regional instability. We call for immediate action. #UNinAfghanistan
