@vdignum Traditional (often industry-based) complaints that regulation/ethics stunt innovation are in direct opposition to the principles of responsible #AI: "regulation and ethics should be a stepping stone for innovation", and are a sign of baked in reliability and verifiability.

Professors @vdignum and Stuart Russell have both emphasised the importance of building reliable and beneficial #AI systems - systems that are well reasoned and well built, and systems we are prepared to allow to take us over the horizon of technological growth.

A great reminder from today's #MonashPratoDialogue lecture from @vdignum: people who have power are most often the ones to build more, and as a result #AI can never be considered in isolation of the socio-technical environment in which it was built.
