Good morning.
I spent a year and a half in a private hospital clerking patients, managing cases, and making critical decisions. I only called the MD when necessary, and in more complex situations, I reviewed with surgeons.
My early months were intense.
Different cases. Different patients.
Just a young me handling 48-hour calls.
I delivered babies.
I resuscitated near-death cases.
I handled pressure from every angle even outside the hospital walls.
Because of how I showed up, patients began to wait for my call shifts before coming in.
And yes, many called me “Doctor.”
At first, I didn’t correct them. I believed the respect came with the title. I feared that revealing I was a nurse would reduce how people perceived me. Even my MD seemed comfortable with it.
But something changed.
I attended a leadership summit, and it reshaped my thinking.
I returned to the hospital, called a meeting, and said it clearly:
“I studied Nursing.”
And if I, as a nurse, can do all this, then we must start valuing Nursing for what it truly is.
Not everyone in scrubs is a nurse.
Titles matter. Training matters. Identity matters.
I encouraged the auxiliaries to pursue proper training or find a better path for themselves and I offered to help.
From that moment, everything shifted.
“Nr Adekunle AA” became more prestigious to me than any other title.
Now, when a patient calls me “Doctor,” I respond:
“I’m Nurse Adekunle. How may I help you?”
Because I’ve learned this:
Living under false pretence doesn’t elevate you it limits your growth.
Be who you are.
Stand in it.
Build from it.
And as for me
I am Nr Adekunle A.A

@abe_deborlar@OlayemiKomolaf4 I wash my face with the cerave cleanser, then apply the toner with my face mildly wet. Then the serum(niacinamide), then apply the snail mucin and allow at least a minute before each application. Then the AZ acid, moisturiser and sunscreen .
@OlayemiKomolaf4 😂😂😂. I had to start using those skincare after I got severe hyperpigmentation from using retinol without sunscreen. All pigmentation are now gone after three months.
@OlayemiKomolaf4 I used tretinoin 0.05 and eucerin sunscreen to fade most of my hyperpigmentation. Then I introduced azelaic acid and niacinamide and most of them disappeared. All in three months
