A young lady once came to me and said, “Uncle, I am pregnant.”🥺🥺
I remained quiet for a while, then I later advised her not to abort the pregnancy. She replied that the fact she gathered the courage to come to me already showed that abortion was never an option for her. She only needed understanding and guidance. 📌

A few days later, I met her sitting outside their house when some elderly ladies began throwing hurtful words at her. They called her careless, a disgrace, and accused her of lacking self-control. When I arrived, I realized that these ladies were my peers, and some were even younger than I am. I immediately stopped them and asked them to keep quiet.

I told them plainly: “If there is anyone here who has never slept with a man, that person should speak and abuse her.”
No one said a word. It became obvious that every one of them had, at some point in their lives, been involved with men. Some had even aborted pregnancies, only that they did not keep theirs, all in the name of avoiding shame.😞😞

This young girl already understands that she made a mistake. She did not want to add to her pain by terminating an innocent life. That is why she chose to keep the child. In truth, those insulting her are in no way better than she is. The difference is simply that her situation became visible, while theirs was hidden.

Dear young lady, sexual relations are meant for married people, and young people should strive to live disciplined lives. However, if at any point a mistake is made, do not add another wrong by killing an innocent child. Life is sacred. Even under the Nigerian Constitution, abortion is a criminal offence except in very limited circumstances.

Instead of condemnation, our society needs compassion, guidance, and responsibility. We should correct with love, not destroy with words. No one heals through shame, but many lives are saved through understanding.💪💪
