Pretty sure you're still trying to improve fundamentals. What you hate is probably the exercises that art teachers force you to do to learn fundamentals, which are, to be fair, tedious and boring.

@RyanRodero I think fundamentals are the dividing line between a paid artist and a hobbyist. Besides, it's a misconception that people think fundamentals are just drawing basic shapes. It's more than that. It's about teaching you the thought process of creating art.
