My daughter Annika is proudly autistic and 12 years old.
She drew this butterfly from a photo she took herself — every vein, every scale, rendered by hand on a tablet.
She signs everything she makes. Dates it. Like she already knows it matters.
She's turning 13 tomorrow. Please share this for her birthday. Let's make her day.
@Andrewnsnyder I'm really excited for this, not only because the book is excellent, but because @hendrixart has consistently contributed fantastic work to the world of children's literature. It feels like a win for the good guys.
@hendrixart I read this during the week leading up to Christmas (which was a perfect time to read it). What a marvelous book! Congratulations on all of its/your well-deserved success!
@silasdhouse I was saddened to hear of his passing. His voice was the voice of good radio to me, and I don't think I've ever forgiven NPR for replacing him. My mother was born and raised in Kentucky, and it made me proud that Bob was from there as well.
We were about $6,999,999 short on funding for a Super Bowl ad with this same message, but maybe if everyone shares it, we will reach the same number of people?
@soulfoodscholar It's been a long time since I heard anyone call an electric stove top burner an eye, but I feel like my mom did back in the day. She grew up in Louisville, KY.
