Lo encontré abandonado en una Estación de servicios en la autopista en una mañana lluviosa.

Estaba empapado, temblando y maullando de desesperación, como si estuviera pidiendo ayuda.

Estacioné mi camión y caminé lentamente hacia él para no asustarlo. Cuando me vio, no huyó. En vez de eso, me miró con los ojos llenos de miedo y esperanza. En ese momento supe que no podía dejarlo allí.

Lo recogí y lo puse en el asiento del pasajero, envuelto en una manta que tenía en la cabina. Durante el viaje, dejó de maullar y comenzó a dormirse como si supiera que ahora estaba a salvo. Lo llamé Capitán, un nombre apropiado porque parecía listo para liderar cada nueva aventura.

El capitán ha sido mi fiel compañero de viaje desde este día. Cada mañana sube al salpicadero, su lugar favorito desde donde ve pasar el mundo. A veces se aferra al volante con sus patitas como si estuviera manejando él mismo.

Siempre me hace reír y la gente que nos mira no puede evitar sonreír o tomar fotos.

Pero Capitán es algo más que un gato gracioso. Se ha convertido en una parte esencial de mi vida en el camino. Gracias a Él, mis días solitarios ahora están llenos de risas, sorpresas y comodidad.

Él me ha mostrado que incluso los encuentros más inesperados pueden cambiar nuestras vidas de maneras increíbles.

Y todos los días, me recuerda que a veces los actos de bondad más simples, como ayudar a un animal necesitado, tienen el mayor impacto.
