Vermont’s homelessness crisis surpassed another record this year.
- 3,458 unhoused Vermonters in a single night
- Black Vermonters are 5.6 times more likely than white Vermonters to be unhoused
This is a political choice.

Their typical typical headline would be some Palestinians die mysteriously in Gaza shootings
BREAKING: NH House votes 272 to 109 to end NH's war on marijuana!
NH's war on marijuana harms community safety, wastes taxpayer dollars, is enforced with a staggering racial bias, and ruins lives — it's time for it to end.
On to the Senate ...

Great News! The House just said no to the Dept. of Safety's attempt to expand policing & gov't surveillance on near the northern border.
Thank you to the Rs and Ds who saw through the fear-based rhetoric and did the right thing.

N.H. House strips $1.4 million Northern Border Alliance proposal of @GovChrisSununu from the budget as conservative Republicans join with all Democrats to adopt it. #nhpolitics
BREAKING: NH House passes HB639, which would legalize marijuana use by adults. Vote 234-127.
NH's war on marijuana is enforced with a staggering racial bias, does not make us safe, wastes taxpayer dollars, & ruins lives. This is great news!

What will it take for Manchester police & city leaders to stop opposing data-supported harm reduction strategies like overdose prevention centers, drug testing, & ending the criminalization of people who use drugs?
This opposition must stop.

Attn: Manchester political leaders:
$31,065 - annual cost to criminalize a person experiencing homelessness
$10,051 - annual cost to providing supportive housing
Criminalizing poverty is not just inhumane, it is also a waste of tax $s

Frustration over the homeless crisis in Manchester reached the boiling point this week, with one alderman suggesting Police Chief Allen Aldenberg should resign if he isn’t prepared to have officers move people and tents off downtown city sidewalks. https://t.co/kLwLN6b9pQ
Overdose prevention centers save lives.
Unfortunately, NH police oppose bringing these life-saving centers to the Granite State.
It is past time for NH to embrace data-supported harm reduction programs like OPCs & end its "war on drugs" (AKA war on people).

New York City launched two supervised injection sites, in East Harlem and Washington Heights.
The result? Halting nearly 700 overdoses in just over a year.

New study shows 43 of the 50 most populous cities in the US spend more on police, jails, courts, etc than on health & human svcs, public health, parks & rec, etc. This spending ratio is not correlated to public safety at all.

Opponents of legalizing marijuana for adults continue to argue that legalization will lead to ↑ youth use.
As multiple youth surveys have shown, this is not true. Here's the latest from the federally funded Monitoring the Future Survey.

Sold to the public in the name of public safety, NH’s marijuana laws needlessly ensnare over a thousand people—disproportionately Black people—in its criminal justice system every year.
It’s time for it to end.

BIG: New Hampshire's Republican and Democratic House leaders announce that they're filing a marijuana legalization bill for 2023 that they hope will break the Senate blockade that's derailed past reform proposals.

NH bail reform facts (since 2018):
- 1000s of people haven't been unnecessarily incarcerated
- Crime is ↓ 18%
Despite this, police leaders & their allies continue their misinformation campaign to undermine these reforms.

Overdose prevention centers save lives. It was beyond shameful to see NH's police leaders oppose recent efforts to bring this life-saving model to NH.
NH must end its war on drugs & invest in harm reduction strategies that save lives & make our communities safer.
