This is where I question the political landscape in this country.
If the war ended quickly and inflation was under control Republicans would benefit.
Since the war is continuing and inflation is hot, the Democrats benefit.
Seems like it is more important to win elections and gain control than it is to do what is best for the country.
Speed is a map issue. Bad data bad behavior.
Yes mine, at times holds the left lane. It will move over for vehicles approaching from behind and the right lane has room to merge. Thinking FSD will drive the same as you is a huge mistake. It has its own driving style.
I agree with others, use your turn signal. It is called FSD supervised.
@JohnGoldman I have this running thought on FSD supervised. Each release improves FSD, does it improve support for the supervisor?
What in the display would have helped you, the supervisor to know to intervene?
I was at that location yesterday. I walked through where they are parked. All have steering wheels. These have been shipped here mainly from Texas.
According to the person I talked to, having steering wheels is because Michigan doesn’t allow autonomous vehicles.
Here is a photo from that location.
I am so FSD spoiled. Today we headed off to an air BnB, a three hour drive. Being this will be a long stay, the M3P could not hold all the gear required. So we loaded up the ole ICE vehicle. This car is so low on the technology scale, it doesn’t even have a backup camera.
I am a daily user of FSD I am also accustomed to Tesla’s user interaction. No ignition, no shifting into the appropriate gear, doors auto lock, etc.
I get in my caveman ICE car and drive as if I don’t know what I am doing. I forget to shift into park. My spouse has to remind me to shut off the engine.
I think there is a model YL in my future.
I am finding that my FSD concerns have moved away from concerns about safety to questioning the decisions it makes.
One example, when the upcoming maneuver is a left turn followed by an immediate right. Why are you in the left of two turn lanes?
Why is it waiting so long for traffic to clear before making a turn onto that street?
@CernBasher@farzyness A friend I have known for years bought a Model 3 with FSD after driving mine only once. We meet every Saturday for breakfast. The primary conversation is our FSD experience during the past week.
Great post.
@platinumpapas@Tesla That has to be the most dangerous and poorly designed lane closed marking I have ever seen. If I would have been driving, there is a good chance I would have hit the barrier.
I believe this transition will follow a similar path as did the transition from paper map to turn-by-turn(tbt) navigation. When tbt was introduced most drivers knew how to read a map and plan a route. I bet the vast majority of today’s young drivers couldn’t read a map.
In the near future those entering driving age won’t need to know how to drive.
I like your perspective. Yes here comes the but!
As a consumer I am needing to do a cost tradeoff for something I don’t yet have. In this case fully unsupervised FSD. BTW, I own a Tesla and lease FSD and use it each time I drive.
My expectation is a tiered price structure. This can be cents per mile, miles driven per year, business or consumer level, etc.
Tesla surprised me with UI improvements. Taking my M3P to the car wash. Upon entering the car wash's driveway. I was prompted with a popup asking if I wish to enter car wash mode.
The prompt is now on first surface. No need to step through menus to find the enable for car wash mode.
This car is so smart!!
