I’m proud to announce Newsday’s Top 100 PSAL football players to start 2026.

Every year, Long Island’s top players receive this kind of recognition, and I’m excited that New York City football now has the same platform from a major news outlet.

I spent hours on the phone with coaches across all five boroughs and four different divisions putting this list together. Each of the 100 players selected has an individual write-up.

Last night eight Suffolk County football teams battled for a 7v7 title. Whitman came out on top. The tournament MVP in my book was Jason Thompson 2028 ATH (@JThompson7020)

When I watched @jjoly_17 in the spring of 2021 I had a feeling he was special. He was on the best NY high school football team I ever covered, that @ionafootball group was special. Checkout Joly’s HS highlights below! He was unstoppable.

His former HS teammates @KhordaeS was signed and @Ethan_2Rob is currently a member of the Dolphins. That ‘21 spring team goes down in history.

One of the most dominant high school athletes I’ve covered is Ja’Quan Thomas ‘26 from William Floyd.

Back to back 2000+ yard rushing seasons and stepped in to play QB in the county final in a special performance.

This young man is still available. A college or a prep school will get a phenomenal player in @JaQuanThomas25

Harborfields is a team I’ve been wanting to see this year, especially Chris Prainito who has been absolutely brilliant for the Tornadoes.

Atlas draft Alex Ross in first round to fill defensive void.

“We had to be flexible with who comes off the board.” Pressler said. “But picking the first defenseman off the board in this year’s group was huge for us.”

It was an epic girls flag football showdown between Longwood and Northport!

Longwood came out on top 14-7 in overtime. Claire Scalfani found Cameron Greene for the go ahead score. Liana Collazo had the game clinching sack!
