yet not I but through Christ in me✝️Matt. 22:37-40, Proverbs 3:5-6 @wheatoncollege ‘24 Bible/Theology & Env. Sci📚🌎 aspiring pastor/scholar📍Charlottesville
@EmilyMcgowin Congratulations Dr. McGowin! grateful to have benefited from your brilliant, formative teaching and thrilled for this milestone in your career!
@TheAlanNoble Espousing such beliefs and intentions anywhere-but especially in our highest levels of government with the ability to enact them-is truly disgusting. I pray that the Lord turns the hearts of those entrenched in this hate towards compassion for their neighbors.
@sometimesalight I worry that many of the people with the most power seem convinced by this fantasy that severing partnerships results in a pure benefit for us. It just ignores the complex realities of our world, and I fear the tangible consequences of sweeping changes due to this mentality!
I truly hope and pray that President @realDonaldTrump will come to know Jesus.
I pray that President Trump will turn to Jesus in faith, repent of his sin, ask for forgiveness, and lead with compassion and mercy upon the most vulnerable, extend care to the poor, and protect the sojourner in our midst.
I pray that President Trump will come to know the love and grace of Christ Jesus that will put God first in all that he does as president and beyond.
@Tonypittenger@garonnevik perhaps you could visit @UVA in December some year to find some kindred spirits! I attended the glorious, packed (600+ capacity concert hall) Messiah sing-in last month and think any Messiah enthusiast needs to experience that or something like it!
@jpowellmcnutt totally impressed by the spectacular set of contributors! so many brilliant folks there-looking forward to using this resource @DukeDivinity next year!
Don’t forget that “Jesus is still on the throne” means both:
a good and just God is still in charge, and his promises can be trusted
and
those promises include judgement against all evil, abuse, and sin.
We shouldn’t say it flippantly, but we should proclaim it.
Today, people I love and respect will vote for Trump & people I love and respect will vote for Kamala Harris. I may disagree with the conclusions of those supporting Trump but I will still call them friends.

@inthe306@mbird12@MadisonPierce Maybe they could also discuss the history of Christian women brewing beer that @bethallisonbarr presents in her book by inviting her as a guest! it could highlight the many ways women “run the race with perseverance” in the church😁
@_rebecca_la@emilykmay That song is so beautiful! I think I may have to add it to my hypothetical wedding playlist. My first song will hopefully be something from Broadway, if I get married (and I consider the Anastasia movie Broadway-adjacent)
definitely a sign of strength in this polarized moment to welcome diverse perspectives!👏🏻🇺🇸
Leadership at this tense time means transcending divisiveness, and I admire that @DNC chose to invite speakers who disagree on some issues but share a commitment to the common good.
Corrie Ten Boom was a “childless cat lady.”
She did not put her “own” nation first over that of the alien and stranger.
I wish our country to have as many of her as possible.
One of the biggest obstacles to Christian witness in the US is not a “worldly secularism” as we often think of it, but a “Christian secularism” which is shaped by the flag, the gun, and the dollar, tragically in the name of Jesus.
A thing I find annoying about some politicians, media outlets and pundits is how they take us—the general public—for fools. This appears to be one of those rare uniformities that crosses the aisle. Telling us we don’t see what we do see. Like we can’t trust our own eyes and ears.
highly disconcerting to watch the petty insults, Trump’s incessant lies, and Biden’s worrying condition that dominated this debate between the two people vying for the U.S. presidency.
We need change that brings reasonable, hardworking Americans into leadership!
We’d like to thank @CNN for taking the time to broadcast two of the strongest possible arguments in favor of electoral reform and alternative voices in American politics.
I’m angry & disgusted to hear of Robert Morris’ sexual abuse of a child & heartbroken for Cindy Clemishire. To sexually use a 12 yr old child, then continue it for yrs, is not merely an “inappropriate relationship.” It’s a crime. Sexual child abuse is an evil punishable by law. One can’t just confess when caught & move on with no consequences.
For the integrity of Christ’s Body, God insists “Expel the wicked person out of your church!” 1 Cor. 5:13 Perpetrators are to be publicly fired, not allowed to resign.
Child abuse STILL enrages Jesus: “If anyone offends one of these little ones, it would be better for him to have a millstone hung around his neck and drowned in the sea. “ Matt.18:6.
Until the Church realizes the soul-destroying trauma of sexual abuse, the pattern will continue. Kay still remembers the horror of being molested in church as a little girl. Prov. 31:8
