Today we were thrilled to learn that the Intuitive Foundation (@IntuitiveSurg) has awarded us a grant to further our work in STEM outreach. We're honoured to be recognized by such an accomplished group, and humbled to join our forces with yours. Thank you!

Can we program?
We. Can. Program!
The programmers are hard at work running line drills to get some practice with sensors, control systems, and VSCode. Lots of off-season progress so far!

@WAFFLESRobotics Out of curiosity we checked, and female-identifying students only make up 44% of our school as a whole. So we're close to matching the make-up of the school, but now we want to know why the school doesn't match the make-up of the city!
Updating our business plan and reflecting on how far we've come and how far we have to go. We're now up to 37% female membership. Not the 50% we'd like to see, but steady improvement from our early days!

After a long pandemic hiatus, we're back! We're really, actually, fully back! Take that, stupid airborne pathogen!

Our new members from @JohnPolanyiCI wired up their very first control system this week! Now to combine that with last week's efforts of our mechanical team, and it looks like our programmers will be busy next week!

For a team that didn't exist five years ago, we've assembled quite the collection of technological terrors @JohnPolanyiCI.
Kitbots coming together in anticipation of quickbuilds for new members. We're fired up for the return of co-curriculars!

@CANFIRST Thank you for instituting a clear, rational, and evidence-based policy that will ensure the safety of the entire community. We're looking forward to the season!
BREAKING: #tdsb says "extra-curriculars may gradually and responsibly return in fall."
Elem students may participate in one indoor in-person activity; high school students two. Also "outdoor activities with appropriate physical distancing, and any number virtually" #onted@tdsb
We're thinking hard about our friends from Afghanistan, hoping they're safe, that they're holding on to hope, and that the international community will do everything it can to support all of those normal Afghan teenagers that just want to do normal teenager things. 6/x
See these pictures? This looks like a pretty ordinary day in our shop @JohnPolanyiCI. Students and mentors sharing knowledge and experience, helping each other out where we can. But this wasn't an ordinary day. 1/
Sometimes we see things in the news that seem shocking or upsetting, but then we have a tendency to move on. The events are too distant, too abstract, too hard to connect with. 5/
