It’s a great privilege to be one of 17 people who are discerning who the next Archbishop of Canterbury should be. Do please keep all of the CNC in your prayers.

How do you choose the next Archbishop of Canterbury?
Members of the Crown Nominations Commission share how prayer, discernment, and representing voices from across the Anglican Communion guide one of the most significant decisions in the Church.
Delighted to host a dinner to celebrate the work of the Committee for Minority Ethnic Anglican Concerns. Racial justice is central to the work of the gospel, and I give thanks for the many people who have ensured the @ChurchofEngland rises up to this challenge.
#synod voted 311 for (1 against) re the motion around Racial Justice. Now onto the CNC & interpreters. I’ve worked with them throughout my life & used them for legal work in France where we will retire to. In what world would we say that all have to speak English - Wowzers 🤦♂️
‘I hope we do get there… let’s make sure that we don’t get derailed’ says @frcartwright#synod
He will support the motion but says may be an HS2 motion- we might not get to where we really need to go

It feels a little like being a pigeon with a broken wing … we may make it but we are just unable to get off the ground and if seen in public it’s not what the majority of people expect to see.
#Safeguarding - Independence is needed, I was for option 4 (removed by the amendment process). Diocesan safeguarding liaison officers would still be needed to embed procedures. My prediction - this is the next HS2 - we meant to go to Leeds but ran out of funds #synod#sorry
I wouldn’t like to be @HMRCgovuk dipping all the tractors in Westminster for Red Diesel today. Although they may be able to drop the 20% inheritance tax with revenue gained. #revenue#fueltax
Tonight All Saints Church, South Kirkby (in the Priory Benefice) has joined in with those remembering Holocaust Memorial Day 2025 and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. @LeedsCofE#HMD2025

@jon_trickett Here’s when I was placed on palliative care in 2009. Imagine if I had been offered assisted dying and taken it …. I’d have missed the last 16 years with my family.

Paul Cartwright (Leeds) - Calls for us to take pensions away from the diocese (so they can focus mission) and give it to the Church Commissioners #synod#generalsynod
I am surprised that selling your house so you can train to be a vicar came as a surprise to so many people at #Synod. Here’s the little two up two down that we’ll never again be able to afford to own.
