Nigerian religious people, both Christians and Muslims, love to complain that the West is using movies to “influence” them into accepting LGBTQ people.
But here’s where it stops making sense.
Movies reflect the society that produces them. Western societies have openly gay, lesbian, and LGBTQ people, so naturally their films include those characters. That is not some grand conspiracy. It is simply a reflection of their real life.
African movies do the exact same thing. You include pastors, native doctors, rituals, armed robbers, kidnappers, Boko Haram, and other elements that exist in your environment because that is your reality.
You don’t see people in the West accusing African filmmakers of trying to “influence” them into becoming traditionalists, ritualists, terrorists, bandits, armed robbers, or hyper-religious just because those themes appear in African films.
Nobody claims your movies are spreading corruption because they show corrupt politicians. Nobody says ritual-themed films are recruiting people into occult practices.
But the moment LGBTQ characters appear in Western films, suddenly it becomes “an agenda” because you think everything revolves around you.
Be serious.
Western filmmakers are not going to erase part of their society to accommodate your personal beliefs. You are not their target audience, and you are not that important in their decision-making.
If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. It’s that simple.
This constant fear of being “influenced” is honestly tiring. One minute it’s CIA, the next minute it’s Mossad, now it’s movies. If you can be easily influenced, then what does that say about you?
Nobody is forcing anything on you. It’s giving main character syndrome at this point.
Ndi ara.
I do not sleep with my friends. Even if we had sex before getting to the friend zone, there will not be a second time. It is just me and the way my brain works.
TG Omori didn’t just tweet homophobia; he sparked a weekend-long dogpile that put real queer Nigerians at risk. His viral tweet and cheap marketing ploy have opened a floodgate of hate.

Nigeria’s entertainment industry has a bigotry problem, and the music video director just reminded us how loud it gets.
Good News BLU fans!!! We hit 100k views in less than a week. Unfortunately, the views earned us nothing. We want to give you more episodes! Now, we are monetized! Help us to tell your friends about BLU and rewatch or play BLU in the background when you do your chores or the do.😉

You are a pedophile, outsourcing your perversion on an imaginary gay woman. Everyone with a child should be wary of you, since society won't put you down.
