A cool thing just happened with one of my favorite stories about Black History.
It began when a Black community went up against LITERALLY one of the most powerful corporations in America
A thread:
And if you ask the indigenous people of North America when this country was founded, they'd tell you there were cities, states and organized governments long before white people arrived.
My point is: How we define "America" has always been determined by white people.
Herpetologists: we need to do scicomm and get people not to demonize snakes. You know, make them more relatable to people.
Herp enthusiasts: Letโs give them silly names like snek and nope rope
Herpetologists: NO NOT LIKE THAT
Any recommendations on "newer" books and/or books not written by white men on the #CivilWar? Trying to have some different perspectives. #twitterstorians#historians
Hi Twitter, it's been awhile but I'm happy to announce that I'll be spending my summer at Petersburg National Battlefield!
Do I know anything about the Civil War? No. Am I good at remembering history? Also no. But I'm excited to learn about the people of Petersburg.
While my #BlackInNature involves wildlife #BlackInNature is not limited to wildlife & Rec. activities
