Just finished my reeducation on the complexity of the human and mouse #hypothalamus by @GilesYeo - thank you for visiting us and sharing some of your discoveries on the human #hypomap. I’ll post the link to your @Nature paper as soon as I find it!!! A must read 📖
Grateful to be part of some of the teams awarded @FightMND funding. Congratulations to @Ngo_Lab, @thomcat992, @JohnDGLee and the other teams within the @mndatuq family. Looking forward to seeing the result!!! #MND#ALS
People living with #MND#ALS lose their ability to speak - do we ever stop to think of the impact this has? These champs are going ‘48hrs without Words’ to show those living with MND that they are not alone. Researchers are in their corner. To donate, follow the links 👇
Poor government funds rates means researchers have to rely more and more on philanthropy for their support. But as the economy tightens such funding is becoming harder to generate. Charities such as ours should be supplementing government funding not replacing it!
Enjoying a very excellent overview on #heterogeneity in #MND by @SteveVucic. So happy to see attention on #PLS AND #PMA - thank you for reminding us of the importance of recognising these subtypes in clinical trials #alsmndsymp
Congratulations @JerynChang on proving a very easy to follow overview on brain responses to visual stimuli of food in people with #MND. Thank you also to the organisers of #alsmndsymp for this opportunity to share research from @UQ_SBMS @UQMedicine and the @Ngo_Lab@Steyn_Lab
Looking forward to a great 34th ALS/MND Meeting. Always amazed at how this community of researchers and clinicians have grown over the past years. Thank you @AmmarAlChalabi and the organising committee for finally bringing us all back together
Great summary of the current state of #ALS care, treatment, and research by @nervecentrals as @pactals 2023 begins to wrap up; lots of positives but still a long way to go.
Congratulations to all of the amazing research teams funded and @FightMND for the amazing work that they do. My commiserations also to the fantastic #MND research teams not funded this year. Stay strong, don’t give up.
This year we are investing $20.2 million into MND research and care. This brings our total investment since 2014 to $95.37 million.
Together with our FightMND Army we are changing the future for people living with MND.
Stay tuned for research and care updates. 💙
#FightMND
Was a pleasure working with @profcjmcdermott@NgoShyuan @ldupuis_Inserm Albert and Ed on this review. Main message - metabolic changes in #ALS are complex, important, and a potential target for improving outcomes in disease.
Excited to address the Year 1 Med Students for the first time in 2023; I always enjoy seeing their evolution in thinking over 18 months months of intensive #Biomed studies. Congrats to all for making it this far and I’m looking forward to getting to know you all @UQMedicine
We found complex interactions between BMI and hypothalamic size in this cohort of #PALS – matching the homeostatic role of hypothalamic structures🧠 Collaborative effort by @UQMedicine @AIBNatUQ@UQ_CAI @UQ_EAIT with support from @WesleyResearch@RBWHFoundation and @MND_RIA (2/4)
We are one step closer to understanding this tiny #blackbox as we begin to interrogate disease impact on the very diverse cell types 🧫 of the human hypothalamus and across #ALS disease subtypes. For updates on our progress, keep checking back @UQMedicine @AIBNatUQ@UQ_News (3/4)
Does hypothalamus size matter in #ALS? Patients with low hypothalamic volume with low BMI tend to lose fat mass and have increased risk for earlier death. Thank you to the #PALS and their friends and family who contributed to this work. https://t.co/dpwQ5N0MYY🧠@EANeurology (1/4)
Sharing perspective on participation in research to benefit understanding of #MND. So glad to be back to #F2F meetings. Thank you to @MNDFoundation for providing this opportunity.
