@CerebralWarri0r i meant the dog itself is not to blame, i don’t blame a dog that has no control over how its bred and produced but rather the production team and such that has worked directly into this
am i too crazy and autistic if i make a whole post about why “casting” an unethical color of great dane is going to be super problematic bc it’s going to encourage backyard breeders and puppy mills to make the “Netflix Scooby”
(no hate to the dog he’s trying his best)
@gyeommiesneeze i have heard! do you have any evidence of that btw? i just wanted to research more into it so i can defend my arguments a little better!
this is usually something i’d talk about on my priv account, but it saddens me that movies/tv continue to promote out of standard dogs. brown is not a standard color for great danes. brindle and fawn are. this kind of marketing promotes puppy mills ):
@IAmMercedes124 oh they 100% are which is why i am stressing about it, these dogs require so much more than people expect and yet people are going to get them for the trend of it all anyways :(
@jasperjareau and as a result, people aren’t going to be able to care for them and they will get sent to reaches/shelters which will now be overpopulated with dogs :( poor baby’s just deserve better
@cookiethefox while i can agree he is brown, there is possible evidence he was bought from a puppy mill and is an unnatural color for great danes which will result in him being at high risk of health problems etc! i’m sure fans would be upset no matter what, but i wish dogs weren’t put at risk
@Miss_Aranel the reason i bring the color specifically into the conversation is because they are known to be at more risk of health problems and such, regardless puppy mills would produce a ton of great danes after the release of scooby but now i think it’ll encourage ones with +
@Miss_Aranel this 100% also. people aren’t going to do the research that is needed to get a great dane. as a kid i wanted one so bad but learned how much care they need and realized that i/my family was not equipped to have one and give it the proper care necessary.
linking this here for people to read further into why this is an issue! i apologize for saying unethical color bc that wasn’t exactly the right wording on my part BUT i do think this needs to be talk about!! for puppies sakes too!!

@MediZense yes unethical may not have been the best wording on my part, but there are risks that come with brown great danes and i do think having one in the show will encourage BYB and puppy mills to overly reproduce them leading to this issues. that’s more of what i meant to say.
this!! ok as a die hard scooby lover and dog lover i knew something was off about the great dane puppy. outside of the fact that scooby is a FAWN great dane.
