Finally took the time to set up @liquibase. The extension may need a lifting because #db2fori is neither z/os nor LUW, but it seems to work! https://t.co/niumGAeUg2 #IBMIOSS
#db2fori. Has any one experience with a #SSDT (my first love :) ), @FlywayDb or @liquibase -like solution on #IBMi? I know it is not out of reach. This is the next step on my journey to database DevOps.
Not so long ago, I had my code dismissed because it used #SQL and "Not everybody knows it in the company"... and now I hear it is still a thing in 2022 even on the #ibmi.
values (
try_cast(1=1 as int),
try_cast(1=0 as char(10)),
try_cast(1=cast(NULL as int) as char(10)),
try_cast(cast(NULL as int) as char(10)),
try_cast('NoInt' as int)
);
1-Logical expression are values - fun
2-TRY_CAST and NULL result ;)
Happy #ibmi 7.5 release to all of you!
@mgeise@liquibase So on the point 🤣.
But it tells more about myself, not being a Java dev.
I had to clone the rep for a quickfix and try to compile with maven (first ever install) with a series of trial and error.
The github/workflow files did help.

@AlexanderStix The restriction is documented.

IS DISTINCT FROM limits us to equi-join... but yeah, there's always way to reformulate the statement for available synthax... it was just an "Idea".
@notesofbarry Okay... it was a version for people not wanting to read all the material provided yesterday. The emphasis was more on security and new Nav.
With all these new sysadmin db2/ibmi services... you really want to block sql injection and *ALLOBJ user rights.
Going through the #ibmi 7.5 anouncement related to #db2fori.
As a DBE, TRY_CAST, boolean operators and Multiversion DB2 Mirror are making my top 3 for now.
Merlin is... an unexpected move considering the work from @notesofbarry on vs-code.
