“once you are enacting solidarity…you can’t go on with your daily life as if nothing really happened… because injustice can’t be integrated in acts of love.”
@DrCarlHindy This I agree with wholeheartedly. The part I do not understand is the part about power. Please forgive me for not understanding where you are coming from. But I’m deeply confused and would be grateful for an explanation 🙏🏽
@DrAnnieHickox@tillytog01 Though wrg evidence-based Rx, not so sure that’s entirely absent from criticals’ repertoire. They aren’t a homogeneous group IME. They are multitudinous & loosely associated. Some have put considerable effort into developing evidence base for certain psychological Rx….
@DrAnnieHickox@tillytog01 Trump’s granite comments carry deep, personal synchronicity for me. Which is unexpected but an aside to some degree. Haven’t tuned in to X for some time but yes, it does sadly seem to be not a common theme for critical profs to talk about disability issues, from memory 😞
@DrAnnieHickox I’m so sorry Annie.
Boring but safe sounds good to me.
I don’t chase excitement.
I have been on more than enough roller coasters to last a lifetime.
I don’t understand why people dislike boring. But each to their own.
I’m sorry about Lisa 😞
@DrAnnieHickox@looneyfox_1 It perturbs me. The way these directions have gone. I used to get great comfort from Davies’ first book. I remember being passed a copy by another psych survivor and what it felt like that a published author would recognise what we would say amongst ourselves-common sense
@eyebaws1 Did a psych say that to you? 😞
I have bad interactions that are harmful. In very weird ways.
But it’s not for psych to determine that. It’s my own decision.
@DrCarlHindy Sorry if I’m coming across as rude Carl. Not my intention. Just feel very triggered by your post. Power in a relationship to me only makes me think of the power & control wheel of family/domestic/institutional/societal/…/etc+ violence 😔
@DrCarlHindy Disturbing Carl. There are so many red flags in these statements that it’s hard to know where to start. But the gist of it is: since when did love have anything to do with power? Power is not a virtue IMHP - it’s just power 😒
@DrAnnieHickox Just want to find a platform where people are able to be themselves & operate within their own boundaries without interference. Where blocking works. Where rules are unequivocal, listed clearly & unambiguously, fair, safe, reasonable & adhered to. With mechanisms to ensure this.
@DrAnnieHickox@RuthElkan@DrCarlHindy So it’s natural that some people reject categories. The reality IME has been that psychiatrists are not evil, but they often struggle to see the psycho & social dimensions of the biopsychosocial model & tend to think dx is a lookup table for standard meds. Can be dehumanising
@DrAnnieHickox@RuthElkan@DrCarlHindy Hard for me as I see your points but also see his. Polarisation makes everything a power struggle of competing ideas. It makes me sad.
It took me a long time to see the utility in categorisation. There’s a lot of people I know from their own LE who only experience the negatives
