In footage from the immediate aftermath of the shooting today in Minneapolis of 37-year-old Alex Jeffrey Pretti, agents with Border Patrol and Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) can be seen searching for a gun, with one clearly stating, “Where’s the gun?” The agent in grey who was seen removing the gun from the waistband of Pretti before the shooting then says that he has it. It looks to me like that guy was just protecting the lady with a backpack, when he was pepper sprayed at first. That is when he got tackled by the agents, and dragged back onto the street.
Here it is zoomed in, and @ 50% speed.
Much easier to see it this way.
He clearly did not undertake any offensive action towards the agents at all. The most he did was to raise his left hand, protecting himself from the pepper spray.
The lady with a back pack also seems to be getting back onto the street. but only because the guy was holding her by the hood of her jacket. So, when got pulled back onto the street, she also got pulled out with him.
I've slowed this down.
In the huddle, one or more ICE officers shout 'GUN'. This caused another officer to draw his sidearm.
Another officer removed the man's sidearm, and then walked away, but it was discharged negligently (see for yourself).
The Sig P320 is notorious for NDing, but typically only when dropped.
That then triggered the other agents to think that the man on the ground, Alex Pretti, had begun shooting, so they neutralised the perceived threat.
If this is what happened, it's an incredibly unfortunate accident in Minneapolis.
