Dear funders,
This is a long overdue conversation!
In this PLOS Global Public Health article authors make a case for reform in global health funding.
In brief: the funding system is skewed, still favouring large well-established organizations, exerting an undue burden on smaller less established ones.
It's a simple fact of life: if you want to do something incredible, something that makes you stand out above the rest, then you have to become comfortable being different—that means being misunderstood, criticized, even hated.
Luck doesn’t just happen, it’s created. You can do things to increase the odds of serendipity.
Meeting more people makes you lucky.
Learning more skills makes you lucky.
Being willing to fail makes you lucky.
Offering to help others more often makes you lucky.
As of today, we have recorded 11 cases, of which 4 are imported and 7 are local transmissions. Five of the cases are health workers. We have already discharged Case 002, and three of the patients have since tested negative - Prof. Charles Olaro

🚨 Since his penalty miss in the #UCL final, Arsenal supporters have made Gabriel the top-selling shirt name at the club.
His printed name is up 350% since Saturday’s final. At one stage he was outselling any other name x2.

📊The Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) session by Dr Olimpia Lamberti explored the concepts and components of DALYs, how they are calculated, their comparison with QALYs, and their application in economic evaluation and priority setting to support evidence-informed health decision-making. DALYs is a measure used to quantify the overall burden of disease by combining years lost due to premature death and years lived with disability. #AfHESG #HealthEconomics #KWTRP

We have one health sector, not a private and a public one. Everyone falls sick. Where we seek care is just a detail. Private not for profit is a bogus term. Either you're making losses or surplus. Being a going concern is for all @MakSPH#ianclarke today

Holding a PhD does not give you the right to being knowledgeable. It gives you the chance to learn, unlearn and relearn.
It is a chance, not a privilege!
