The care of God’s flock is a shepherd activity - consistent teaching of God’s Word, Christlike compassion, and remembering the sheep are fellow kingdom heirs with you. All of this done by a pastor who is not at a distance but close enough to smell like sheep.
I envy younger pastors, after 42 years of serving the local church my wife and I would do it all again. The sacrifices, the heartaches, and all that comes with it are worth it. “And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.” 1 Peter 5:4
Honored today to do the memorial service for my friend, John Kennedy. John and Mary were married almost years 50 ago. Their first date was at our church and they never left. Rest well in Jesus John, we will see you again.
Glad to endorse my friend, Kevin Williams, of FBC Villa Ricca as President of our state convention in November. He is growing a great church that is reaching many for the Kingdom.
Georgia Baptist, it is my intention to nominate Dr. Kevin Williams of First Baptist Church of Villa Rica for President of our convention when we gather at Ingleside in Macon in November. I have known Kevin for many years and believe in his character and integrity.
Blessed today to lead the funeral of longtime Northside member, Ezelle Ray. She struggled with dementia and has seen through a glass darkly but now in Jesus’ presence sees more than any of us have ever known in our present world. Pray for Tommy, they were married for 62 years.
Embracing with all your heart the road God has called you to walk upon is a privileged trust in His sovereignty. May every Pastor put his hand to the plow and never look back.
Pastors must have faith to rise above the pettiness of difficult people. Love the difficult, be slow to anger, speak with wisdom and kindness, trust God. The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, And His sovereignty rules over all.” Ps 103:19.
True pastoral character is not obtained in being well read, in serving high positions, or in the status of a great pulpit. Character is formed in commitment to biblical scholarship and teaching, and caring for God’s flock in both good times and bad. #beginwell#dowell#endwell
