« You acknowledged that France could have stopped the genocide, but did not. In response, I described your words as something more valuable than an apology: namely, the truth. » ~ HE President @PaulKagame#Kwibuka32

“Confronting historical responsibilities requires real courage, because it generates fierce opposition by those with a case to answer. You need a strong sense of humanity to see it through. President Macron, I want to commend you on both counts: courage and humanity.
You acknowledged that France could have stopped the genocide, but did not. In response, I described your words as something more valuable than an apology: namely, the truth. This door was first opened by President Nicolas Sarkozy, and I wish to commend him today.
The Genocide against the Tutsi was foreseeable, and in fact foreseen, and France was in a unique position to observe and to act. It took too long for France to come to terms with its role, causing additional pain. And on some points, we still have not found consensus. I fully understand the feelings of those survivors and advocates, who remain dissatisfied with the official record. But I believe that our common work has initiated a journey towards truth, which is irreversible.
And France was not alone in falling short, far from it. Many other countries did so as well, but none has gone as far as France in setting the record straight and accepting its part in the tragedy.” President Kagame | Inauguration of Monument in Paris honouring the victims of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi.

Here’s is my full quote on Rwanda’s nuclear energy agenda, it was unfortunately chopped up to fit the writer’s storyline:
“Rwanda is working with a variety of global partners to develop our civil nuclear capabilities. In addition to Russian company Rosatom, a world leader in construction of nuclear power plants, last week at the Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit in Kigali, Rwanda signed an MoUs with the US Government, to advance civil nuclear cooperation between the two countries, as well as other agreements between Rwanda’s Atomic Energy Board and companies from the United States, South Africa and Austria.
In Rwanda, feasibility studies for both the construction of a facility using SMR technology and establishing the Centre for Nuclear Science and Technology are ongoing. Historically, these kinds of projects have been financed by governments, but more recently multilateral development banks have started discussions around financing frameworks to expand access for emerging economies embarking on nuclear energy development.”

Africa needs more civility, maturity, not selective outrage. Imagine dual citizenship is celebrated when a Ugandan succeeds in USA, but suddenly becomes suspicious back home when another Ugandan has ancestry or regional ties. We need consistency, not selective identity politics.
It is funny how fast political tunes change on social media.
Not too long ago, foot soldiers were over the moon celebrating Zohran Mamdani making history as the first Ugandan born Mayor of New York City, completely brushing off his dual citizenship. But fast forward to today, and those same supporters are up in arms.
Now, they are complaining and questioning how Dr. Lawrence Muganga can be appointed as the Minister of State for Internal Affairs because of his dual citizenship even though they don't even have their facts straight about it. Apparently, it is a proud moment when an Ugandan wins big abroad, but a massive crisis when a dual citizen gets a major role back home.
@goodhe4rted Being linked to Rwanda should not question someone’s Ugandan identity. Regional ties, ancestry, work, etc across borders should not be treated with suspicion. My Africa needs more civility & maturity, not constant labeling or excluding people based on where they have connections.
This evening at the BK Arena, President Kagame attended the #BAL2026 Playoff semi-finals, where Rwanda’s RSSB Tigers secured a 106–97 victory over Egypt’s Al Ahly, advancing to the BAL Finals.
The commitment to change by trainees at Iwawa Rehabilitation Center is an encouragement for Government’s investment in behavioral change programs.
