That's all until Cody Harper stands in court, facing the possibility of prison for assaulting a police officer.

The footage appears to show Cody being attacked by a group of men beforehand, including a punch to the back of the head.

Moments later, while seemingly disorientated, an officer rushes in and pushes him against a shutter. He lashes out, then immediately stops once he appears to realise it's a police officer.

I genuinely thought common sense would have prevailed by now, and that this charge would be dropped and an apology issued.

The police asked people not to share the footage.

I think the opposite. If you care about justice, people should watch the video and decide for themselves.

This young man's future is on the line.
