@CindyOtis_ I don’t read the news because it’s depressing, but I don’t have a good answer to that question. Regardless of what we’d like to believe about ourselves, I don’t think anyone is really objective. And while truth isn’t subjective, there are so many facets to every story.
@WritersDigest Really know your characters: their dreams, their fears, their deepest desires, what they love, what they hate, who they are. If I know who they are, I know what they’ll say next.
I discovered the most magical thing: pakoras! I haven’t had batter fried food in four years b/c gluten and my struggles with frying. The onion sort of tastes like an onion ring and the potato sort of like a samosa. Now I can order fried food, at least at Indian restaurants! 😃🎉
@patriciacaspers So even when something bad happens, focus on how it’s also a blessing. Or will be a blessing in the long-run because of the skills you’re learning or the lives you’re touching because of the struggle. I find that replacing a thought with another can be helpful when it won’t stop.
@patriciacaspers Miriam. (She was the insane lady in the accounting department in Better off Ted who insisted that the hazardous material alarm time should count as break time because technically, they weren’t working. So they shouldn’t be paid for it.)
@patriciacaspers And that gave me more time to work on passion projects or rest from my illness. I did end up losing that job a month later, which I framed as freedom since the manager was controlling and condescending and I was happy to be free of him.
@patriciacaspers Try to reframe your thoughts. When I was had to work from home for a very in-person job, I panicked. I thought I was on my way out. Then, I reframed the thought: I made the same amount of money in 2 hours that I used to in 8 because my boss underestimated my writing ability.
@StultsApril That’s a fantastic question! I’m curious about the answer. My own experience is wandering around Goodreads (or suggestions from friends). If a title/cover draw me, I read the blurb. If I like the blurb, I read the preview. If I like the preview, I usually read the entire thing.
@AshworthAuthor Oh man. You tried to do NaNoWriMo during the semester? Ouch. More power to you! I did not have the time/energy. But I miss it! I’ve finished two manuscripts that way. I hope it went well for you last year!
@svershbow@LZats I absolutely LOVE digital libraries. No more stress about book return dates or making time to drive out there. I want to read a book? Instant access, often in both ebook and audiobook formats.
