@swoonganz @MoxieMixie I don’t think people are being intentionally obtuse. I truly think it’s a “today years old” thing for people that have been in practice for awhile. I’m no longer at the bedside, but when I was, this was very common practice and our pharmacists were aware 🤷🏼‍♀️

@swoonganz Okay a non sterile cup I can see the issue.But for a patient that has a central line and has 1/2 mg of morphine ordered,it needs to be administered in 10cc syringe.Draw 0.5 mg(1/2 ml)in 3ml syringe/waste some of the prefilled saline syringe/replace with the 1ml morphine=slow push

@MortytheRN @TommyGlocks It’s extremely hard to find a 1ml syringe at my hospital. Plus, if it’s going thru a central line, you need it in a 10ml syringe anyway. Drawing up the accurate amount in a 10ml without diluting and giving a “slow push” is nearly impossible.

@ICURN_ I HATED my transition when I left bedside icu x 10 yrs->AGACNP. It’s weird. I had COMPLETE trust from the MDs in ICU when I left/the next day ZERO trust in new role.I was shook and unprepared/ even more shook as I realized the amt of self learning req to be a safe APP.
