The current situation of transgender refugees in East Africa is still devastating. Let's convene on November 1, 2025 to hear several survival voices discussing about this: as we learn how we can be supportive. @TruthLgbtq

Spending my birthday weekend fighting off fascists and bigots. It reminds me of a teaching from my father.
My father said “aggression is a sign of weakness. Now kindness that is powerful. What can you do in the face of kindness?”
It’s a call to all of us to never lose our humanity. Maybe we need to be a little bit kinder, a little more gentle, a little more loving, a little more truthful, and honest.
We are witnessing increased violence against indigenous, women, girls and diverse gendered folks, the love surrounding this movement is more powerful than this hate.
I wouldn’t spend my birthday weekend any other way. It is always a privilege to stand in love and resistance, fighting for a better world for all.
Queer Momentum celebrates two years of bold advocacy for the queer & trans community. We enter our third year stronger than ever, fresh off of a historic election mobilization of 2SLGBTQIA+ people and our allies, & ready to be a fierce voice for freedom and human rights for all.
Today I met with Gazans whose family members are trapped in life threatening situations in Gaza, being denied entry into Canada.
That includes children and mothers, many lacking access to basic sanitation, medical care, or sufficient food and drinking water.
Since January 2024, only 886 people have arrived under the Gaza temporary resident visa program, while 4,500 applications are in limbo.
The Liberal government must act now to save the lives of Palestinian Canadians, their families and their loved ones from this genocide.

The Kenyan government has escalated its war on women. Today, peaceful demonstrators at the #FemicideMarch were met with live bullets,a violent declaration that Kenyan women are persona nongrata in their own country. This is a blatant attack on our constitutional right to assemble.
I request the govt of Uganda to release my husband Dr Kizza Besigye from where he is being held immediately.
He was kidnapped last Saturday while he was in Nairobi for Hon Martha Karua’s book launch. I am now reliably informed that he is in a military jail in Kampala.
We his family and his lawyers demand to see him. He is not a soldier. Why is he being held in a military jail?

🚨Court Alert: A conservatory order has been issued, halting the @DRSKenya and @burugu_j directive dated 30/09/2024. The order suspends the requirement for all refugees and asylum seekers in Kenya to surrender their passports to DSR offices.
Thanks to @legal_networks !!!
It's about standing out & speaking in an environment where you are not sure if you will survive the next day; it's this fear that makes me strong, 2 work hard & fight on 2 see a better life for #LGBTQIA asylum seekers in #Kenya.@USEmbassyKenya@US_SE_LGBTQI@KellyTClements@HRC
Heartbreaking to see #LGBTQ refugees & asylum seekers in Kenya feeling hopeless & stranded. With the gov't refusing 2 mandate protections & lacking any plans 4 our safety, our plight continues 2 go unnoticed. We must raise our voices 4 our rights & dignity. @USEmbassyKenya@HRC
