didn’t even grow up sheltered but malicious intent still really shocks me, I never expect it because I just don’t even get why anyone would harbour that

i’m instantly turned off by a man that has very negative opinions about women even if it doesn’t apply to me. something very nasty and misogynistic about that spirit that never sat well with me.
The simple explanation is that “amaXhosa” are people that fall under the Gcaleka and Rharhabe nations.
The other groups such as amaMpondo, amaMpondomise, amaHlubi, abaThembu, Bhaca, amaMfengu, Xesibe, amaQwathi etc are actually fully independent nations with their own languages, separate origins, cultures, languages etc.
All these groups, including the Gcaleka and Rharhabe, were lumped under the umbrella term of “amaXhosa” by the British for their own classification benefits and it basically ended up sticking.
The “Sub nation” thing came from the dominance of the Gcaleka and Rharhabe nations, so allot of the other groups were tributary nations but that didn’t mean the umzi ka Phalo(Gcaleka and Rharabe) ruled them. We also have lots of Basotho and Tswana people in the Eastern Cape.
Remember guys the Eastern Cape is massive, it’s the second largest province in the country after Northern Cape, it takes longer to drive from Mthatha to Gqeberha than it takes to drive from Johannesburg to Durban. Mthatha is closer to Kwazulu than it is to most of the Eastern Cape.
