▽ Free Pride is a radical, inclusive pride event celebrating LGBTQ culture + our history 🌈
Free Pride Statement on The National Lottery Community Fund:
We're fundraising for Free Pride 2021! We have lots of exciting plans and we need your help to make them happen. We know it's a hard time for a lot of people just now, so if you can't donate, a share is just as helpful 🌈💓

We’re sorry to the members of our community who will be disappointed by this. We’ll be organising a smaller get together for later in the summer & will share details soon, but wanted to keep you updated. You can read our full complaint at the link in our bio.
A lot of you have been in touch about what’s happening with Free Pride this year & we are sorry we’ve been so quiet! Here's a thread to update you on what has been going on & what we'll be doing this year:
We have returned our funding to The National Lottery and have sent a letter of complaint to the CEO and Scotland Director, asking them to reverse their decision to fund the LGB alliance. This does mean that we cannot run Free Pride at its usual scale this year.
Next Tuesday at 5:30 for #LGBTHM we're running "Arts, Crafts & HIV"! Hear about our work @sxscotland @WaverleyCare , the importance of arts in #HIV history, and event get a chance to make your own zine!

happy publication day to @HJosephineGiles, who we were so lucky to have on our trans and nonbinary writers panel at our event this year. we are so excited to read what looks like a truly incredible piece of work 💫
If you attended any of our events this year, we’d love to hear your thoughts- please take a minute to fill out our (very short!) feedback form if you can!

Free Pride is over for another year! Thank you so much to everyone who was a part of it and made it so brilliant. And an extra big thanks to @TNLComFundScot for making our event possible this year 💕
Solidarity between disability orgs & LGBT+ orgs to support each other say participants at the .@freepridegla workshops. Disabled people need to be visible and disabled LGBT+ people do too which increases #Isolation How can #QueerSpaces be more accessible? #Access#Participation
Inaccessible spaces for disabled LGBTQIA+ was always the case before the pandemic. #Lockdown and online queer spaces have actually increased participation - say participants at the workshop. Fears that this will regress when things return "to normal" & opportunities disappear
.@GDA__online excited to be running Workshop at .@freepridegla today after yesterday's rehearsal! "Putting the D in relationships!" will explore how being a disabled person and also being LGBTQIA+ have an impact on relationships, identity and the barriers we face #FreePride2021
AAAAND we’re finished for Saturday! Thank you so much to everyone that came along to our Garden Party and tuned into the live stream. We’ll see you tomorrow for the final day of Free Pride 2021, which starts with ‘Putting the D in Relationships’ at 1PM with @GDA__online 🏳️🌈
