The students want the powers of the VC should be taken and he should be asked to resign. RGNUL students are protesting, demanding the resignation of VC Prof. Jaishankar Singh, who entered the girls’ hostel for a surprise check, despite the rule that no male member is allowed to enter female students’ rooms, regardless of how many female faculty or guards accompany him.
Students have reached their breaking point after enduring his continuous sexist remarks. Disturbingly, instead of launching an investigation, the university has issued a notice for closure until further orders. The Ministry of Education should intervene immediately and remove this VC from his position.

Bounden responsibility of Registrar Dr. Pawar to state unbiased facts on this report, without any undue influence of VC Singh or DR Dahiya.
Dr. Pawar, there are thousands of your students watching your next steps. Please do justice.

The Department of Higher Education has summoned a report from the Registrar of RGNLU, Patiala, regarding the ongoing student protests. I assure the students that justice will be done.
@rekhamadhavan@ShashiTharoor Let's understand this your way: Please state if as a woman you'd be comfortable if a male police officer shows up unaccompanied, inside your residence for a surprise check as your neighbour complained you were engaged in certain illicit activities.
Disturbing to read that Patiala’s RGNUL has been shut after students demanded the V-C’s resignation over a surprise girls’ hostel inspection to “check on drinking after midnight”, and a disgraceful pattern of sexist remarks on women. It is startling that the Vice Chancellor of a law university seems completely unaware of his students’ constitutional right to privacy. The government should immediately appoint a commission of enquiry, and the VC should step aside until its findings are released. The behaviour reported in the media seems at the least inappropriate: https://t.co/RbHUOaUa8K
@Syamkri48548544@ShashiTharoor You're missing the point. The checking need not have been done by a man. The university has enough and more capable women officers who could have enforced the same. And FYI, there was no alcohol found anywhere in the premises.
