Pressure is mounting on the international community over Israel's #genocide in #Gaza. With the latest report from @amnesty International, the mainstream U.S. media faced an excruciating dilemma. How could it downplay the damning report this time? https://t.co/8qppVB20O4

. @sheffielduni has cancelled a planned – and previously approved – ‘teach-in’ by the university’s lecturers and researchers on the subject of the Gaza genocide, sponsored by @ucu, on the grounds that it was ‘linked to a controversial event/topic’ and therefore posed a security risk. One element of the teach-in was to cover the university’s complicity through its investments and partnerships.

Toolkit: Demand “NO IHRA”
This toolkit is for students, faculty, and staff who are working to stop right wing attacks on universities, knowledge, and communities, which use anti-Palestinian racism as their starting point.
Legislators and institutions are under immense pressure from Zionist/right-wing organizations to adopt IHRA. This resource page supports efforts to formalize opposition to IHRA wherever possible. https://t.co/y9GWhAs8YY

‘From the river to the sea’ is not hate speech says Meta’s Oversight Board

The ruling reviewed three specific posts using “from the river to the sea” that had been flagged by users. The Board said that the posts “do not glorify or even refer to Hamas, an organization designated as dangerous by Meta.”

The Oversight Board’s statement said that the posts simply “contain contextual signals of solidarity with Palestinians” without attacking Jewish people or inciting violence. While the phrase “can be understood by some as encouraging and legitimizing antisemitism and the violent elimination of Israel and its people,” the Board wrote, “it is also often used as a political call for solidarity, equal rights and self-determination of the Palestinian people, and to end the war in Gaza.”

Six months later they say no crime was committed. She has just collected her sign.

We would question the judgement of @BoardofDeputies in seeking to become censors of artistic responses to events in the world. Suppression of views disliked by partisan groups hasn't historically worked well for Jews has it?
