Julie, what you have discovered is that there is a great gulf between academia law and reality law. Everything up to and including the bar exam is theory. The great law professors, and there aren't many of them, will humbly admit that hornbook law does not address the reality of society. Rather, a majority of law professors are really social activists and have chosen their profession based on an agenda. Application of critical skills will almost always lead to the truth. The misinformed will always resort to name-calling.
