Piotr what is the basis for your optimism? All of us would like the wonderful future you are expecting, but when we look at human history or the behaviour of the rich today, the odds are against it. It could happen, but it is already quite late in the game, and it would require huge changes to our social and economic structure
There is another way, and it is what generally happens in human history. The powerful enslave the powerless, or let them starve, die in wars etc. And this time the powerful won't need many other humans to help them do it, they will have unbeatable drone/robot armies. At least until/unless Superintelligence turns on its previous masters, but that's another topic
@JoannotFovea@SuperMemoWoz@merettm They are well aware that we are going to see 50% unemployment in a few years, but are getting a little worried about just how quickly AI is getting unpopular with the average voter
@PaulGugAI@iruletheworldmo For the next couple of years yes, after that good luck competing with something that thinks thousands of times faster than you and never needs to rest
Why do you have this singular focus on the Israelis? Right now there are also conflicts in Ukraine and Sudan, both of which have higher casualties than the Palestinians have suffered. Do you see why people wonder if you're motivated more by hatred of the Israelis rather than concern for the Palestinians?
@Ladyblues666@cenkuygur@TheYoungTurks You think even the suggestion that there are greater issues in the world than Israel is ridiculous? You really need to step out of your Internet bubble. I don't support what Israel is doing, but there are far more important issues in the world today- AI for one
It might be the next step up in AI comes not so much from more data, but from some big insight to do with how memory connects to cognition, or some sort of AI architecture that makes possible a much higher degree of parallelisation more similar to how our brains work. If that's the case one company could jump ahead.
Agreed, but there are other huge issues here aside from profitability and developing technology quickly. Not pretending I have much insight into how this is going to work out, but I'm not sure I trust Sam Altman to share the wealth around society if no one including the government has the power to compel him to do it
@JeanPGelinas@cenkuygur@TheYoungTurks Israel is by far worse than Russia? AI? The tech billionaires that control AI? And the nazis were a military power that rivalled the rest of the West put together. Israel is a small country, get some perspective
@tinleyharrier@cenkuygur@TheYoungTurks Yes they have bought some American politicians, and successfully pushed the US into Iran. But how about corporate influence? Also very bad, and gets 1% as much coverage as Israel from TYT
Always enjoy your commentary Cenk, and I don't think you should be banned from the UK. However you and Anna really have been quite one note lately, whatever the story is, Israel always seems to come up. Even though I agree with a lot of what you say, you have both started to sound like fanatics on this issue
@westillevolve@GaryMarcus People like Demis Hassabis and Dario Amodei are clearly extremely intelligent- that doesn't mean we can't question some of their motivations and judgements
@NickSchmidt I learned this lesson the hard way. I still look at SMH, all the open gaps below, and I have to physically restrain myself from buying puts.
