Lifeguard Luke Shepardson won the Eddie in Hawaii yesterday. He was on duty at the time and surfed his heats using vacation leave. A lifeguard wins the Eddie which honors the first lifeguard at Waimea Bay and a person who lost his life saving others (Eddie Aikau).
