Profile Q & A: "The people of Eritrea are just amazing. They are warm, kind, and deeply patriotic"; Ms. Nandi Mandela
"The President is deeply passionate about nation-building and about African countries finding ways to collaborate so that the mission of our forefathers can be accomplished. Our forefathers did so much to create a lasting legacy, and now it is the challenge of the next generation to take that legacy forward. Primarily, our goal must be to ensure that our countries which have been blessed with abundant natural resources actually use these resources to benefit their own citizens".

#Eritrea: Statement by Ambassador Beyene Russom at the 13th World Urban Forum; Baku, Azerbaijan
"In Eritrea, our approach is based on integrated urban-rural development....As we move toward the midpoint of the New Urban Agenda, let us be clear: the future of urbanization in Africa and many nations globally depends on how we treat the link between cities and villages. Eritrea commits to advancing this integrated approach. We call on partners to support investments that connect rural and urban areas through infrastructure, services, and markets. Let us ensure that no community is left behind, whether in a megacity or a mountain village".

#Eritrea’s Agricultural Development Over the Past 35 Years: Advancements in Water Reservoir Construction and Livestock Development (Part I)
By Ermias Solomon (Public Relations Division)
Since independence, Eritrea has built remarkable resilience in agriculture. Water reservoirs surged from just 130 in 1991 to around 850 today — a sixfold increase. This has boosted vegetable production 6x and fruit production 71x, transforming irrigation, food security, and rural livelihoods across the country.
Strong gains in livestock too: annual vaccinations now cover over 6 million animals, modern poultry has exploded with 8+ million day-old chicks distributed, and beekeeping colonies grew from 19,000 to 46,000. A clear story of self-reliance and sustainable development.

#Eritrea: With minor variance from the positive forecasts for the rainy season this year, actual precipitation levels to-date have and remain above normal in most parts of the country. Farmers individual initiatives coupled with provision of tractor services at much subsidized prices by the Corporation of Seeds and Livestock are yielding encouraging results in Gash Barka and other regions in the country.
As we welcome the New Year 2026, I extend my warmest greetings to all #Eritreans at home and abroad, to our friends of #Eritrea, and to the gallant members of the Eritrean Defense Forces (#EDF) who steadfastly safeguard our #sovereignty, #peace, and #dignity.
May the year ahead be one of peace, hard work, and shared success. Let us unite more than ever, Eritreans and all peace-loving friends, to preserve our hard-won sovereignty, #peace #stability and #cooperation as the foundation of a prosperous and hopeful future for the common good.
#HappyNewYear 2026.
May peace, unity, and progress prevail.
