Codex’s five-hour limit fucking sucks. Not only does it make it damn near impossible to get anything done, it’s mentally exhausting to deal with.

It's me again. I come bearing great news.

First of all, we have hit 20M active users for Codex some time this week. Second of all, this is cause for celebration and during the day we will credit every Codex and ChatGPT Work user with a BANKED reset that you can use at your own leisure. And we will have some other good news later too!

Now, on usage limits draining faster, while we're not seeing anything abnormal, we do take it incredibly seriously and there is an ongoing investigation. I will share if we do find anything and my below post is really a clarification on a specific pattern that we did see that I wanted to call out.

It’d be great if the Codex help menu included a usage guide so people know how to use it properly and don’t burn through their quota unexpectedly.

I might be wrong, but I somehow maxed out my weekly Codex limit in two days. That doesn't really add up.

Every time after a reset, I run out of it in one day or two days. I'm a bit speechless.

Here's the problem I'm facing with Codex.

- Weekly tokens last for 2 days max, even when using Luna 5.6, Luna Xhigh for reasoning.
- The model tries to over engineer, gets into a useless loop and burns more credit. (This is the major reason why the credits go out so quickly).
- All the models are performing very badly lately, since the last 3-4 days, to a point.

Claude, Code, Opus 5.0 with Fable 5 is performing so much better since the last 3-4 days.

Resets are not the permanent solution.

If Codex doesn't fix this soon, they will go down at the same pace like they went up.

Reset is not a solution, it's a temp patch.
