Fishback is wrong here. Somehow, he knows that we currently have the “right” number of data centers and that any additional ones are due to greed. 4200 sounds like a big number, so in his opinion, that’s enough. This, of course, is a ridiculous leftist view of the economy.

At the same time, I don’t think the pro data center folks should rely on the “beating China” argument. Data centers are good because AI will be transformative in all areas. Of course, tech superiority over adversaries is important, but focusing on that one benefit is disregarding how practically all other industries will benefit immensely.

I agree that Trump should be criticized in the beef controversy. However, the criticism is that he only temporarily cut the tariffs and is leveraging this to fix the price. He needs to entirely remove the govt from economic negotiations and let the free market work. It’s obvious that his decision is not based in any principle and rather to temporarily please the masses.

The issue is not that beef farmers are going to struggle against foreign competition. They shouldn’t have been gifted an advantage at the cost of American consumers in the first place.

The key phrase here is “Not a solution for American ranchers”. There’s no principle behind what Good Ranchers is advocating for. They want the government to impose tariffs that hurt every beef consumer in order to artificially boost their own company’s performance.

I don’t blame them for lobbying their own interests, but it’s right to point out that it’s completely self serving, and consumers shouldn’t agree with it. If your buisness can’t work in a free market, it shouldn’t exist.

We aren’t giving billionaires anything. The word giving makes it sound like we are donating to them. Instead, we trade money to them in exchange for their good or service. I know you use X, have some sort of computer, and I’m sure you use Amazon as well. All of these were made possible by (now) very rich people taking a massive risk and doing something ground breaking that betters humanity. Modern day comforts don’t just spawn in on their own.

Homelessness largely exists because of drug addiction and severe mental illness. Maybe 1% or so are people “down on their luck”. Laws that are lenient on people living on the street and shooting up drugs create a perverse incentive structure to stay on the street. We need to crack down more.

The caveman might be able trade his fire producing ability with others who exchange food and tools for his trouble. At this rate, he will eventually have a lot more than the other cavemen. That’s inequality. It’s not fair, obviously. Even worse, someone else finds out the fire emits carbon in the atmosphere. After a while, this carbon might make the temperature slightly warmer. Time to panic.
The Neanderthals use common sense legislation to ban all fire building in the immediate area. They call it a moratorium. Caveman gives up on fire. A cold winter ensues. Caveman dies.

Yea the edge ideologically still goes to the conservatives, but it’s getting closer by the day as more people shift towards Carlson-esque economics.

Now the politicians on both sides are equally spineless, power hungry cowards that have no basic principles. Maybe conservatives are slightly better there as well, but not by much.
