We moved our photos to a self-built photo gallery app and wrote a post about it 🙌

[Avo @avo_hq]

Ditched a hosted gallery for a one-box Rails 8.1 app (built for Friendly.rb, now open source). 9 Active Storage derivatives per photo, AVIF came in 31.6% smaller than WebP, and plenty of lessons the guides skip once you pass a few dozen images.

Avo 4 is here 🎉

15 months, ~2000 commits, and about 50 teams kicking the tires. It's a full redesign, not a fresh coat of paint.

A safer way build your internal tools 🧵

We want to sincerely thank our speakers, attendees, and sponsors for making Friendly possible 🫶

Just in time to answer "what should I watch on my some summer vacation?", all the Friendly.rb videos are up on our YouTube Channel 🙌

I just released a new version of the Stimulus LSP that is now fully powered by the power and intelligence of the Herb toolchain! 🌿

I'm so happy that this finally came full circle. These features are initially what prompted me to start working on Herb!

Something special happened last September.
Our plushy seats hosted over 130 bright folks who came to see the happening which we call Friendly.rb.

Who will I see at SFRuby in about a month from now?

Friendly.rb is taking a break.
We've had quite a few questions about that and wanted to share them publicly.

Also, as a tribute to the @rubylangorg and @rails community, I've made ♦️ The Ruby Triathlon 2025 Challenge ♦️ via one of my apps built in Ruby on Rails. Have fun playing it!
