Indeed they are, @brigidjones, parks serve a vital role to our communities, and by extension reduce pressure on other public services, so it is extremely important that people continue to be able to access these spaces responsibly, wouldn't you agree?
Thank you @CRTWestMidlands for continuing to carry out safety inspections in these difficult times. When you have a chance could you please look into a new, steady trickle of water running from the canal embankment? Many thanks.
Embrace wildlife in your garden by leaving some areas to do their own thing. #InsectAandE@BumblebeeTrust
Many βweedsβ can provide important food for pollinators, while untidy and overgrown corners can provide shelter and potential nesting places. https://t.co/XwBRkDGhfk
Jobs for the weekend... Did you know it's really important to regularly clean your bird feeders to help prevent disease? Here's how. https://t.co/d8TznK4sX6
How many years did it take this tree to reach this size?
It's one of many being cut down for a two-week sport event.
How many years will it take for any new, replacement trees to grow _if_ they are actually planted?

Here's a statement from the Council. We hope they will work _with_ the community & listen to people like us who are trying to support them to achieve their objectives.
Make your own mind up about the statement & the evidence. We will hold the Council to make good on promises.
@A34SafetyAction "It was confirmed as inactive" how and when though? We have eyes too, and were present at the site when contractors weren't. Our members have a very different version of events from the PR. Speaking of which, we've been given a statement from the Council...
@A34SafetyAction Council promised things to host CW games.
Planning docs showed they'd chop down this tree.
Planning docs have errors & flawed assumptions, feedback was ignored.
Cutting trees down with active nests is callous/illegal.
They MUST do better than planned post-Games to fix this.
@KingWaggy@politicalhackuk Not as important as one of the trees with an unmonitored nest being felled today, but these have gone too.
We raised concerns at the start of the CWG engagement phase that there was a risk of "mission creep" and insufficient monitoring.
We'd hoped to be proved wrong.
Aware there's a global health crisis. But while many people will be working from home, contractors have been marking _extra_ trees to chop down which were not in the planning application. Some of these are mature, slow growing specimens. Happy about this @politicalhackuk ?
@KingWaggy@birminghamcg22@BhamCityCouncil@thecgf@politicalhackuk@TomDare7 So one of the trees identified as having a nest with activity, but not being monitored, has been felled during the day.
Despite an urgent plea to pause felling activity.
Would a pause have _really_ hurt delivery of the overall project?
@Jonperrybarr Can you scrutinise please?
As the "demolition" contractors assemble to start chopping down more trees, here's another one marked to come down, with what looks like a new nest, birds flying to it.
Hope you're paying attention @birminghamcg22@BhamCityCouncil@thecgf@politicalhackuk@TomDare7
@KingWaggy@birminghamcg22@BhamCityCouncil@thecgf@politicalhackuk@TomDare7 With respect (and thanks for answering swiftly) this is incorrect. This is just one of several trees marked with an orange dot - to come down - but no red-and-white tape indicating under observation, where there appear to be nesting activity. Please cease cutting down trees now.

Yes, there's a global health crisis. But that shouldn't mean "demolition" contractors can chop down trees with active nesting birds. Happy about this @politicalhackuk ?
