None of us knows when an accident may result in someone we love becoming disabled, they don’t belong in rest homes
Help us build the support they used to have in Auckland.
Love you'll to follow @FriendsofLFT
we are working to recreate the vital Auckland facility that supported people with spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, brain injury rehab, stroke rehabilitation, amputees, Multi-trauma like Major Motor Vehicle Accidents.
Off to speak to Quakers about @FriendsofLFT this morning. Thank you for having me.
Young disabled people don't belong in resthomes.
Maybe you'd like to become a member of LFT? Fundraising to rebuild this vital facility underway. ♿️👩🦽👩🦼

The spinal community: We are not ill; our brains work, we have much to contribute. With the right support, it's possible to live with independence & dignity. @friendsoflft

@VABVOX Wheelchair user here. I get a lot of “Good for you”s. It’s infuriating. People assume I can’t and say “good for you” when they realize I do. I’m the director of the State of Mass’s research team, an economic development expert, a parent, a wife, and a Harvard grad. Assume I can.
@phototropenz@FriendsofLFT A huge ⛰️ mountain to climb to rebuild, recreate the wonderful facility that was there but great team & enthusiasm for getting a gym, hydro pool? offices, community hub and transitional accommodation & maybe even permanent homes for the physically disabled who want/need it. 👩🦼👩🦽
Friends of LFT has big news, its efforts were rewarded and LFT has a new board. Pictured are many of the Friends who finally became members as a result of all our effort.

@FriendsofLFT Jane Carrigan has written a great piece on how the health sector can make her redundant & make sure the disabled have better care.

@nzskylovingdiva@FriendsofLFT ❤️And encouraging me on, attending rallies, trying and trying again to be let in as members, it’s been an amazing experience, giving ‘voice’ to so many people’s stories. Really valued my whakapapa (Pat Booth and Valerie Davies) in this too - “be a giraffe’ - stick your neck out!
@vcarternz@FriendsofLFT It's extraordinary what you have achieved, against all odds. So glad you had members who felt the same as you and who are now on board, supporting you, to steer the trust back in the right direction.
Pretty exciting day yesterday, Laura Fergusson AGM saw 8 "friends" elected. Victoria Carter is the new Chair and Simon Dunlop is deputy.
Committed to recreating a transitional hub like LFT was for the physically disabled. Here are some of our friends after the meeting! 🙏🙌🤲
When offshore entities own land there should be a way to make them more accountable & part of the community. In some countries, they tax people who leave valuable sites empty.
#create community
Enabling vandels.
Tragic when a much loved and vital disabled rehab facility is sold.
Seems worse when buildings lie empty for 3 + years & windows get smashed and ignored. Pathetic attempts to stop more damage.
@FriendsofLFT has tried to lease the office space. #deaf ears
You must keep left unless you're passing others. The person driving this car is travelling in the right lane but isn't passing anyone. If a lane to your left is free, you must keep left. It's the law: https://t.co/NHahgqpJET
I keep this card @SecretSantaNZ because it is like a forever hug of kindness from a complete stranger.
Thank you ❤️ am sure i am not alone in feeling the love it spread. I was always delighted with the joy i secretly watched fm the secret santas i was to others! @FriendsofLFT
