Will Self said that not all Leave voters were racist but that every racist voted Leave. Those people tipped the balance in 2016 and gifted us Brexit.

The Kate Forbes question is wider than the SNP and wider than 'Indie'.
At its core the question translates into, 'To what extent can a modern secular party tolerate religious beliefs?'

The Kate Forbes case is fascinating. As a candidate her core beliefs run counter to the prevailing cultural consensus. In all probability, that will torpedo her chances.
I don't agree with her but many of her critics seem every bit as intolerant as they claim she is.

Hundreds of SNP members have pleaded with me to stand as leader. 'There's no competition.' they said.

I discussed it with family, close friends and my parish priest. Briefly I will not accept their leadership.

Instead, I'll support Scotland's only progressive party - Labour

Respected London-ish commentators like Peston and O'Brien express admiration for N. Sturgeon. That is her PR triumph.
Reality has a different texture: a ferries disaster; life expectancy declining; Europe's worst drug deaths; an education system closed to scrutiny; a lame NHS.

@KayBurley @RhonddaBryant @StephenFlynnSNP Stephen describes Scotland's catastrophic drugs deaths as a 'generational problem'. How comforting for bereaved families to learn that loved ones died not of an OD but from a 'generational problem'. I suppose that sound-bite is one way to get the govt and Stephen off the hook.

@AnasSarwar Agreed. Nicola Sturgeon is formidable. She has been an electoral godsend for the SNP .
When reality kicks in, however, her legacy may be judged more harshly - Europe's worst drugs deaths; an non-functioning NHS ; and an education system closed to international scrutiny.
