I try to avoid interacting with libs as much as possible, but the few that I encounter in real life I can already describe what they believe about every, single political and cultural topic with almost perfect accuracy.

It isn't just that their worldview is monolithic and formulaic (though it largely is). It is that I am able to conceptualize why they think the way they do because I understand their ultimate commitments to egalitarianism, democracy, utopian social schemes, etc.

The opposite however is not true. They cannot understand what it is I (and people like me) believe. They constantly think I believe X about something when I actually believe Y. They are totally unable to map rightwing beliefs in their mind. Every, single one I encounter is like this.

It is not because they are stupid. Many of them are fairly intelligent. No, it is because the lib worldview is fundamentally a religious one—a fanatical religious one at that.

One of my favorite movies, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, has a scene where George Smiley (played by Gary Oldman) describes meeting his Soviet counterpart, Karla.

He explains that Karla was a total fanatic, refusing to defect to the West despite knowing he was almost certainly going to be put to death upon his return to Moscow.

In that scene, Smiley says he realized that was Karla's weakness—his fanaticism. Because the fanatic is "always concealing a secret doubt."

I think the lib is the same way. The reason they are universally incapable of bringing themselves to understand what anyone on the right thinks is if they begin to truly empathize their entire worldview would crumble in an instant.

So they shut themselves off from any possibility of putting themselves in the other person's shoes. The second they do that, they might have to consider "what if I am wrong?" And if they do that, they very quickly would discover that they are in fact wrong.

The lib's inability to conceptualize rightwing thought is a defense mechanism. They have to consider the other side pure evil or else everything they believe will fall apart.
