Happy 98th birthday to Holocaust survivor Julia Wallach! Julia was born on June 14, 1925, in Paris, France. On that same day in 1940, Nazi troops entered and occupied the city of Paris. During the war, Julia hid in an apartment with her father until they were arrested in April 1943. They were sent to the Drancy internment camp before being deported by cattle car to Auschwitz-Birkenau. On January 18, 1945, Julia was forced on a death march to Ravensbrück and Malchow in the freezing cold and heavy snow. Starving and left for dead, she was liberated by American troops in late April.
Julia still lives in Paris and together with her granddaughter Frankie, she continues to share her story with the world. Pictured here are Julia and Frankie on the beach in Israel. Joyeux anniversaire! #MazalTov
