I really don’t know how Hollywood succeeded in making us believe that Mexico doesn’t have a bright blue sky.

American movies often portray Mexico through a visual shorthand known as the “Mexico filter” or “yellow filter,” a heavy sepia or yellow color grade used to depict hot, arid, or dangerous regions.

I grew up thinking that was what Mexican weather was actually like. Realizing that Mexico has bright skies and sunny weather, arguably even more than the United States, was one of the biggest misconceptions I had to unlearn.
