We are 6 today! 🥳
We're proud to have helped over 1 MILLION frontline workers access mental health support since Covid hit. Many are still dealing with trauma, burnout & ongoing pressures.

"We only coped... because of the extraordinary efforts of our front-line teams."
Dr Kevin Fong, former NHS England national clinical advisor, speaks to @BBCSimonJack about the need to invest in front-line workers following the Covid Inquiry.
Today's results of the NHS staff survey make for some uncomfortable (though sadly unsurprising) reading. The scale of low morale & burnout is alarming and must be urgently addressed by govt.
NHS staff deserve better. If you're a HCP needing support visit https://t.co/KgARD3QGQR
Happy #InternationalWomensDay to all the fabulous women working so hard in all the varied roles across UK healthcare. With around 70% of the workforce being women, healthcare would collapse without their hard work and dedication. We hope they take a moment to feel proud - 🙏💙
To all health and social care workers in patient-facing roles - we offer free & confidential 1-1 counselling and support via self-referral.
Don't suffer in silence.
Get back to being you.

This was Christmas Eve.
My elderly Dad sat in a hospital corridor.
Not a ward.
A corridor.
Around him
mental health crises,
pregnancy complications,
people with dementia,
sepsis,
and a prisoner under guard.
It’s loud.
Chaotic.
Relentless.
A 🧵 1/5

At Frontline19, we provide free, confidential counselling & psychological support to NHS & frontline workers.
Spaces to breathe. To unload. To be human again.
This Christmas Eve, while corridors overflow and staff push on through exhaustion and heartbreak, they need support. 4/5
Spent the last 16 hours in a&e at QEH with my frail elderly dad. The staff here are doing an impossible job. You can see what 14 years of cuts have done. Corridor “care” and the fact that there are no beds. @bentravisceo your staff are amazing but this situation is dire.
We need urgent, sustainable & meaningful change.
This is crucial to the future of our NHS & essential to staff working in it.
No worker should be routinely facing conditions that make them unwell. We're here to support, but the cause must be addressed.

"These are the people who show up for us every day, yet too often they’re left struggling in silence. We simply cannot leave them out in the cold this winter.”

🚨 20 hospitals in England have declared critical incidents so far—and it’s only the start of the January.
Several ambulance services have also raised the alarm.
Please know that we're here to support any frontline NHS staff who need it with free, qualified counselling and support. We've helped over 1m people - we can help you too. Contact us *in complete confidence* via our website.
A critical incident means need has outstripped capacity. It means:
🚨Patients waiting for hours—or days—for care.
🚨People dying needlessly because help can’t come in time.
🚨Over 14,000 avoidable deaths every year in the UK.
But let’s be clear: this isn’t just about viruses or seasonal flu.
👉It’s about severe NHS staffing shortages.
👉It’s about the collapse of social care, leaving hospitals unable to discharge patients.
👉It’s about staff sickness—from flu, anxiety, and burnout.
The results?
👉🏿Patients suffering unnecessarily.
👉🏿Families left grieving preventable losses.
👉🏿NHS staff burning out under impossible pressure.
👉🏿Moral injury—the psychological toll of knowing the care patients need can’t be delivered.
Our NHS is its people. They’re stretched to breaking point, and the system offers no margin for error.
What can change this?
🟢More staff: Vacancies must be filled.
🟢Fast, effective psychological support: Trauma leaves scars, and staff need care too.
🟢A better culture: One of support, not blame.
🟢Clear, compassionate communication at all levels.
Right now, we are failing NHS staff—and in turn, patients. The question is: Can we afford to let this continue?
