Petrol is not cheap in Nigeria. It is only cheap relative to some neighboring countries after subsidy was stripped, Naira floated, and the gantry price raised to ₦1,350.

Smuggling is real. It has been an issue for decades, under subsidy and after subsidy. Porous borders and weak enforcement are a governmental failure, not a reason to tell motorists to stop complaining. If product is smuggled out of the country, that is customs and security. It is not proof that ₦1,470/liter is a bargain.

He chose “Oyo Ahead” and somehow thought it was clever. It isn’t.

Ahead of what?

You only say AHEAD when the work has already started. You only say AHEAD when the state is no longer crawling. You only say AHEAD when Seyi Makinde already actualized Oyo State as a Pacesetter State.

If Oyo was behind, the slogan would be different. If Oyo was broken, the message would be different. If Makinde had failed, they would be screaming “Oyo is finished”.

Of course it matters to the voters from other zones, but it has never mattered enough to change the result.

Ibadan has 11 of 33 LGAs and roughly half the votes. The other four zones (Oke-Ogun, Ogbomoso, Oyo and Ibarapa) have spent the last 15 years chanting “Ibadan o to ge” without once sitting down, swallowing their individual ambitions to field one candidate.

Until Oke-Ogun + Ogbomoso + Oyo + Ibarapa can do the one thing they have never done, which is to unite, Agodi will occupied by an Ibadan.

Spent 12 years as Honourable, collected salaries, allowances, and the title, now crawling on camera, calling another grown man “Daddy” and apologizing on national dailies because the ticket is gone.

Universities are not campaign offices. Lecturers who will later serve as INEC returning officers gathering in a closed-door meeting convened by Tinubu’s political adviser to “endorse” him is a disgrace. Academic independence just took another public beating.

Do not let APC turn a billionaire’s gratitude into proof that Nigerians must keep suffering.

Dangote thanked Tinubu because subsidy-is-gone and a crashed Naira built him a captive market. A “thank you” should be expected that from a billionaire who won the policy lottery. A man listing shares should not be mistaken for a referendum.

Nigerians are paying in transport, food and collapsed purchasing power. Atiku is not going to force any refinery to sell at a loss, he wants to subsidise production at home so Nigeria refines cheaper and families keep more money. Dangote can clap for the President, BUT Nigeria still needs Atiku’s subsidy plan.

This is the new face of Ibadan that Seyi Makinde has built. The photo in this post is Ibadan Central Bus Terminal 1 at Iwo Road, there’s also Terminal 2.

Seyi Makinde built four modern terminals at each of Ibadan’s gateways (Iwo road, Challenge, Ojoo, New Ife Road).

Giving Ibadan the look of a city that takes itself seriously.

Today, that same litre is over ₦3,000. That’s more than 60 times the price in 2013.

11 years of APC, 3 years of Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope”. The only thing that got renewed is poverty.

Fuel was ₦187 when Tinubu said “subsidy is gone”. Today, petrol is selling for ₦1,422 – ₦1,450. That is a 7-fold tax on transport, food, and every salary in this country.

Now they want Nigerians to clap and endure, because FAAC is fatter and the FG has more money. More money for who?

Not for the teacher whose ₦70k wage cannot fill a tank. Not for the trader whose goods now cost double because of haulage. Not for the family that spends half a day’s pay just to move.

You removed the subsidy, fine. You collected the revenue, fine. Then explain why the same government that now has more money still tells the poor to endure while pump prices keep climbing. THIS IS INSANE.

A government that cannot protect the purchasing power of its people has no moral right to campaign on “sacrifice”. Nigerians are not asking for free fuel, we just want to buy affordable fuel.

Twitter has a long memory, the messiah industry does not. Several tweets revealing Peter Obi as a terrible politician during his time as governor re-surfaced yesterday.

In 2012, while Obi was governor, Anambra residents were calling him “the most idiotic and absolutely brain dead governor.” These were not Lagos influencers, not Atiku boys. People writing in real time.

In 2013, another post said Igbos would never forgive him for brainwashing the state into ethnic, sectional, tribal and religious politics. That was not a campaign smear from 2023, that was someone from Anambra talking about their governor during the guber. A fellow Anambra Igbo framed as an outsider project. Divide first, govern later.

Suddenly, the same man became the saint of competence, the harbinger of new Nigeria, the messiah who would never play identity politics. All bad records were wiped clean. His bigotry record was quietly taken off the poster. Anyone who pointed at the old tweets became a “hater”.

A terrible governor does not become holy because enough years passed and enough slogans were printed. The receipts are dated 2012 and 2013.

FACT. Even Peter Obi showed up at Seyi Makinde’s campaign office last week and said Makinde is qualified to be President.

One has a current governorship CV and SW structure, while the other has a cult following and unfinished 2023 business.

I did not say AUN is the model, @otegaogra. I said Atiku does not hate poor children. Those are different sentences.

You put a private university’s sticker price next to a government TVET stipend and called it an argument. That is not analysis.

AUN is a private university, it charges private-university fees, same as Covenant, Babcock, Bowen and a dozen others. Nobody can pretend the fees of a private university is the same thing as a public education policy.

NELFUND and TVET can be useful, also a student loan can still be a liability. Both things can be true, but celebrating a ₦22,500 stipend does not turn Atiku’s position to review the scheme and cut the cost of education into “he hates children of nobody”.

If the policy is strong, defend the policy. Stop moving the goalpost from a lie about hatred to a poster about fees. THIS or THAT is a false choice. Nigeria needs public access that does not mortgage graduates and private institutions that give scholarships.

Seyi Makinde is a worthy candidate for a simple reason; he governed and delivered!

He is one of the few sitting governors who can say, this is what competence looks like when you actually serve the people.

Results should count more than noise. On that note, he is not just worthy. He is one of the few who even qualifies.

Atiku does not “hate NELFUND”. That is a lie you invented because you cannot answer his actual point.

Atiku’s position is that student loan is not a scholarship, but a liability. He said he will REVIEW the scheme, cut down the cost of education, and forgive qualifying debts so young Nigerians graduate with hope, not with overwhelming debt obligations.

That is not hatred of “children of nobody”. The man who built AUN in Yola, funded scholarships for Chibok girls, ran Feed & Read for Almajiri children, and taught 20,000 displaced kids to read on radio does not need lecture on access to education.

Stop converting a policy disagreement into a character assassination. If NELFUND is as strong as you claim, defend it with facts, not this cheap “he hates poor children” script.

This is the part many people are missing.

Atiku is not restoring the old import subsidy. He is moving public support from foreign petrol to the crude oil refined in Nigeria. Shoes made in Aba, not shoes dumped from abroad. Fuel refined here, not fuel imported and then subsidised.

SCENARIO: Cheaper production → cheaper pump price → cheaper bus fare → cheaper food movement → more money left for the family.

That is the plan. Read it properly before you fight a ghost.

Your Excellency @atiku , thank you.

That is exactly the distinction I took time to study. You are not asking Nigeria to keep subsidising foreign refineries. You are asking Nigeria to subsidise work done here.

While import subsidy pays the importer, production subsidy pays the refinery, the worker, the transporter, and Nigerians who buys the product.

The Aba shoemaker example is the whole argument. If public money is going to lower the price of a good, let it lower the cost of making that good in Nigeria.

I will keep reading. I will keep explaining it clearly. The country deserves that much.

Took time to read and digest Atiku’s subsidy plan.

THE POLICY - Restore subsidy, but only as a production subsidy, not an import subsidy i.e. Subsidise Nigerian production, not foreign importation.

IN SHORT - Produce here. Refine here. Create jobs here. Pay less here (put cheaper fuel into Nigerian pockets).

HOW?
• Restore subsidy, but move it from importation to production.
• Support is tied only to crude refined in Nigeria. If you do not refine here, you do not qualify.
• Government reduces the cost of crude feedstock into qualifying domestic refineries through a capped, transparent, independently verified mechanism.
• Lower input cost leading to lower production.
