@QE1045@sagimatched@ArmchairAdml , they collaborated with the Netherlands for naval radars during the Cold War too. Not too familiar with their airborne sensors.
@QE1045@sagimatched@ArmchairAdml I know that the UK drives the airframe, propulsion and sensor integration for GCAP, but why do they feel the need to create a tri-national programme for the aircraft’s radar, given that historically Britannia was quite good at making advanced sensors? Not unprecedented of course
@QE1045@Zaphod2042 I wonder if there was any study/proposal into major update for Sea Viper as AEGIS did with their many baselines. Obviously PAAMS operators did not have nearly as much resource to continuously update AEGIS as the USN did, so they aren’t quite as capable as AEGIS in certain areas.
A popular story holds that HMS Rodney was pushing 25 knots during the famous pursuit of Bismarck. Was it possible for Rodney to even push herself to such speeds?
Matthew J Wright (@MJWrightNZ) looks into the story and pulls up the records to determine just how fast Rodney was going as she chased down the Bismarck.

It's a shame no KGVs were preserved - layout of the Transmitting Station for the 14-inch guns containing the Admiralty Fire Control Table Mk IX.
Had a crew of 17!
@QE1045@John_ForemanCBE@GarethJennings3 I’m not a fighter guy, so i’m curious what comprised of 5th gen technologies? Since 5th gen is not exactly a well defined term in the first place, it’s hard to understand what makes a 5th gen aircraft 5th.
@Marcellogus@AlexLuck9 Is the UK really buying Tomahawk for their surface fleet? Last i’ve heard they are only considering it as an interim for the Stratus.
@QE1045@thinkdefence Can you write in details (doesn’t need to be that detailed) what experience has BAE gained from this project? Maybe i’m not looking at the right place but information on this project seems scant.
@NevettJason@AlexLuck9 None of which are in commission, and if your CSG relies on your frigates as the primarily mean to deliver antiship capability then you should consider if building a 65.000 ton CAP carrier is the correct idea.
@HMWarships I took that from IWM. https://t.co/LqNeZArwTU.
Shame that they don’t allow you to download higher resolution version of their images anymore.
